Liverpool lead Manchester United in race to sign Jean-Clair Todibo

Liverpool are leading Manchester United in the race to sign OGC Nice centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo (24), however, the France international is not expected to leave this January, according to Nice-Matin

Todibo had been strongly linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur this month, however, the club ultimately opted to recruit Radu Dragusin, who has now completed his move from Genoa. It now looks increasingly likely that Todibo will not leave Nice this month.

Liverpool keen to create Todibo-Konaté partnership

Not only does the Frenchman’s €60m price tag – seemingly applicable only this winter – put off potential suitors this month, but Todibo himself is keen to remain at the Allianz Riviera.

He is keen to maintain continuity between now and the end of the season in order to consolidate his place in the France setup ahead of EURO 2024, whilst at club level, he is at the heart of the best defence in Ligue 1, and in a team that is fighting for the title.

However, Todibo could move at the end of the season. The link to Manchester United is logical and also realistic, however, it is local rivals Liverpool who are currently in pole position to sign Todibo, who is close to Ibrahima Konaté. With Virgil Van Dijk (33) not getting any younger, Jürgen Klopp is tempted by the possibility of an all-French Todibo-Konaté centre-back partnership.
